I've decided that this is one of my all-time favorite pictures of Grace. This is another one from Garden of the Gods the day before Ryan left for Iraq. I am really trying to simply enjoy Grace- which is a challenge sometimes because she is a lot like me. I know that God is using these Grace and these challenges to teach me some important lessons. Some of these lessons are tough ones, like patience, mercy, self control and joy.
I love how much she loves to draw, how well she can tell a Bible story, how hard she works to learn her spelling words and her attention to detail. She has a newly discovered love of whipped cream (not Cool Whip!) and wants to put it on a lot of things (like mandarin oranges). Looking at this picture, the things that she does that frustrate me (hair-combing, anyone?) just seem to fade, and I am reminded of how blessed I am to have been given such an amazing and wonderful gift.

that was such a sweet post. you are a great mommy! and i say, in my professional opinion, to let her eat all the whip cream she wants on whatever she wants :) its good to see the forest through the trees
It's one of those things we all hate to admit about ourselves... that the people we all love the most are the ones we not only take for granted, but also sometimes just have such a hard time appreciating them for all the wonderful things they do and not the things that are challenging. But in the few moments of clarity (like yours here, and mine last week when my house was clean :), we can just love people. You are lucky, and we all are lucky to have Grace as our gift, she's not just yours! :)
I can't believe how grown up she looks! Has it really been that long since I've seen you all? This was a very moving post...the girls & Ryan are lucky to have you.
